Welcome

The Barre-Tones and their two competing quartets competed at International competition in mid November at Appleton Wisconsin. The chorus finished 11th of 45 who competed at area competitions in the spring of ’08 culminating with international competition. Their two quartets: The Long and Short of It finished 16th and In Cahoots finished 17th of 52 quartets that competed at area competitions in spring ’08 and culminated with the November international competition. The Barre-Tones now set their sights on April 2009 area competition again, this time in Connecticut.

International Women's Barbershop Singing Competition

The Barre-Tones and their two competing quartets successfully competed in Portland, Maine in April 2008 earning the right to compete at the international women’s barbershop singing competition in Appleton Wisconsin in November 2008. The Barre-Tones finished 5th in the chorus competition. The Long And Short of It finished 2nd in the quartet competition. In Cahoots! finished 5th in the quartet competition, also winning the Rae Borrer trophy for most improved quartet from the prior year’s competition. (Photo: Sue and Susan at the competition.)

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are open to any woman with a love of singing and are held Monday evenings at 7pm at Alumni Hall in Barre. Alumni hall is the building attached to the Barre Auditorium located on Seminary Hill in downtown Barre. Reading music is not required. Carpooling is possible from the Burlington, Mad River Valley, and Roxbury areas. Contact Trecia Hamilton by email if more information is required.

The Barre-Tones has 33 members under the direction of Carol Hollenbeck and assistant directors, Lisa Parro and Jane Watson. The Barre-Tones compete each spring in Area 2 regional competition (New England and SE Canada) with the intent to qualify for International Competition in November of each year.
